Over at
Kickstarter, an online application that "is a funding platform for artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, journalists, inventors, explorers..." I launched my first project -- and what seems to be the first craft/sewing endeavor -- entitled
Sew Helpful. In a nutshell, I'm raising money for supplies and a new sewing machine so that I can make quilt/blankets for children in need as part of
Project Linus. Visit the site and you can view a lengthier description of my project as well as donate to the cause. And as an incentive, I'm offering rewards if you donate. Be sure to check it out.
Kickstarter, by the way, is a fabulous new concept and site. It's all about micro-fundraising for small-scale projects. Creators present their pitches and backers choose the level that they want to contribute. Right now Kickstarter is limiting the number of people who can create projects -- it's invite-only -- but I have an invite or two invite to give out. Just leave a comment here about your proposed project and I'll pick a favorite.
